Is this the most expensive salad at a fast food restaurant?

I love Chick-Fil-A, delicious food and great hospitality. Plus, it’s my coworking spot near home, the Chick-Fil-A in Aliso Viejo Town Center (Aliso Viejo, California). Trying to eat healthy does cost more money, as their salad prices have gone up over the past 2 years — there’s been some Twitter chatter about the expensive chickfila salad. Here’s the cost at my hometown Chick-Fil-A:

$8.15 for a Chick-Fil-A salad (Grilled Market Salad, Asian Salad, Cobb Salad)

There was a time when the newly-launched salad cost $7.19, back in April 2013; and a petition to get the old Chick-Fil-A salads back didn’t get very far. If you were to add a drink, the total would come to easily over $10. That’s double digits for lunch. chick-fil-a-com-Salads Maybe this could be a way to hack the menu and get almost the same thing. What if you got a Chick-Fil-A Nuggets combo meal and substitute a side salad for the waffle fries? You’d still get chicken, drink, and salad, yes, though a smaller portion, and we’re trying to cut calories anyways, so that’d be copacetic. Let’s do the math on this:

$6.39 Meal-Nugg 8ct combo with medium drink
$0.00 substitute cole slaw for waffle fries
$0.51 tax

$6.90 total

That’s for a cole slaw substitute, which is not the same as a side salad. Here’s what a side salad substitute came to:

$6.39 Meal-Nugg 8ct combo with medium drink
$1.06 substitute side salad for waffle fries
$0.56 tax

$8.01 total ~ ht: @jaykranda

#whoop There it is. Under $9.00 for a chicken, salad, and drink at Chick-Fil-A.

  1. Here’s and easy, low-cost, home recipe and its easy to bring to your favorite wifi park: boil 1 chicken breast (add garlic, salt, pepper, onion, celery). let cool. Save the stock, and shred the chicken. Slice 1/2 of a green cabbage thinly in 2″ lengths and place in mixing bowl with shredded chicken. stir in 1Tbsp balsamic vinegar. In small skillet saute 1.5 cups rice noodles in 1-2tsp sesame oil for 2 min and then toss and serve salad. (Serves 2)
